Music Scholars’ Gala Concert

Royal Over-Seas League
Friday 7th October 2011

The annual Music Scholar’s Gala Concert at the Royal Over-Seas League Princess Alexandra Hall in London took place on Friday 7 October 2011. This year the programme featured predominantly chamber music (with only two solo items in addition), reflecting the considerable variety and depth we now enjoy in the Music Scholar body. It also made for an eclectic programme; there was music, amongst others, by Haydn, Handel, Strauss, Mozart, Clara Schumann, Max Bruch and Pergolesi, combining woodwind, strings, brass, chamber choir and piano. The Music Scholars sensed the occasion and were immaculate in presentation, stage etiquette and committed musical delivery. There were featured items from the new Music at Marlborough CD and an added bonus was the sum of £630 raised for charity. Altogether a memorable occasion of which the Music Scholars should feel duly proud.
