YMF Art Auction

Pupils with a talent for art in all its mediums have the opportunity to showcase their work on the renowned international online auction house, Paddle 8, as part of a scheme to raise funds for a sixth form bursary supported pupil.

The Young Marlburian Foundation was established by a small group of young Old Marlburians, aged between 18 and 40. One of YMF’s aims is to raise sufficient funds to put an exceptional but underprivileged young person through the sixth form and the College intends to match fund YMF to enable a pupil to start in September 2015.

To achieve this, YMF is calling on painters, artists, designers, print makers, sculptors and ceramicists, to submit a piece of work to exhibit alongside celebrated contemporary artists such as Donald Judd and Damien Hirst, whose works are sold regularly on Paddle 8.

Marlborough parent, Polly Gaer, Senior Director at Pace Gallery, London, will form part of the selection panel, alongside Head of Art, Jon Parnham; Visual Art Co-Ordinator, Vincent Stokes; Paddle 8 Auction Manager Eugenie York (MM 2003-08) and two representatives from YMF, Tessa Packard (TU 2001-03) and Antonia Packard (SU 2002-04).

Head of Art, Jon Parnham, said: “’Marlborough College artists, past and present, have been given a valuable opportunity to both contribute to this charitable initiative and also promote their creativity to an international community, though the support of Polly Gaer (Pace Gallery, London) and Paddle 8.”

To enter, works must be submitted digitally by Friday 31st October 2014 and the auction will take place at the end of November 2014. More details of the auction will be revealed nearer the time but all the proceeds of the sale will go directly towards the YMF and the bursary scheme.

Works submitted to the auction must be in the form of donated works (artists will not be paid by Marlborough College, Paddle 8 or the YMF Committee for their submission).

Submission details

–    any medium or size of artwork may be submitted
–    the artwork must be physically in the UK by the submission date of Friday 31st October 2014. If the artwork requires to be transported to the UK the selection committee takes no responsibility for the shipment or cost of shipment, insurance, or for the cost of storage of the work in the UK upon arrival.
–    artwork submission must be digital (see below)
–    for works on canvas or paper the artwork does not need to be framed
–    the artwork must be completed by the applicant. Applicants cannot submit artworks on behalf of any third parties
