Review: Evening Pupils’ Recital
In this extra ‘overflow’ concert we were treated to an exquisite display of musical talent from leading Music Scholars most of whom had already performed at the earlier high profile public concert at Kensington Palace in September to considerable public acclaim.
Tonight was more of the same: accomplished young musicians, focused, dedicated, and anxious to explore their considerable talents to the full and doing so with aplomb.
All main departments were represented. From the Strings we heard cultured performances from Bel Guillaume (CO L6), Georgia Ashworth (MO L6) and Lizzie Daniels (IH L6); from the Woodwind, sophisticated performances from Jonathan Venn (C3 Hu), Helena Mackie (MO Hu), Harriet Cockerill (MO L6) and Oliver Mattinson (C2 U6); and further impressive contributions from Brass and Percussion from Joe Arkwright (SU U6) and Thomas Cayley (CO U6) respectively.
These continue to be rich times for the musical life of Marlborough College and tonight was a perfect example of that reservoir of ability and dedication. Well done indeed.
