Summer Term – Second Half

Congratulations to Henry Martin (PR L6) and Molly Macaire (NC L6) who have both been successful in their applications to the McKinsey Leadership Academy this summer.

Playing on his home course at Marlborough Golf Club, Jamie Amor (C3 Re) retained the Wiltshire Boys’ Golf Championship with two rounds of 73 and 75. He has also been selected to represent the Wiltshire Mens’ Team in the South-West Regional Competition.

Congratulations to Nicholas Rusinov (SU Sh) who has been selected to represent Wiltshire at the ESSA National Track and Field Finals.

A number of our L6 pupils took part in the UK Cambridge Chemistry Challenge on Friday 19th June, winning medals in recognition of their very strong performance. Click here for more information.

Ellie Spark (MM Re) has been selected for the South West Academy Netball team with matches ahead during the summer. Good luck to both!

Well done and a special mention to IB Pupils Rosie Shaw (MO) and Anna Symons (EL) were both awarded the maximum score of 45 points, a feat achieved by only 0.3% worldwide in 2014.

Summer Term – First Half

Congratulations to Oli Grant (MO L6) who has received news that she has got into the National Youth Theatre.

Well done to Ella Bennett (IH Hu) who has been selected for the GB sailing team to compete in Japan.

Following their successful completion of the Wiltshire Junior Development Centre (JDC) training, Jamie Krens (LI Sh), George Nicholson (C3 Sh), Nick Rusinov (SU Sh) and Archie Stocker (B1 Sh) represented Wiltshire U14 boys at the regional JAC tournament.

From this tournament, Jamie and Nick were selected for the West Hockey U15 boys Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC); with the next step being national representation. Congratulations to them.

Congratulations also go to Millie Burdett (MM Sh), Lucy Constable (MM Sh) and Lucy O’Donald (MO Sh) who represented Wiltshire U14 girls at the regional JAC tournament. Following this tournament, Lucy Constable was selected for the West Hockey U15 girls JRPC; with the next step being national representation.

Freddie Hazlitt (C1 Sh) and Harriet Place (NC Sh) represented Wiltshire U15 boys and girls respectively at the regional tournament with selection for the West Hockey U16 boys and girls pending.

History was made on Friday 24th April as the first Marlborough pupil attempted the first British Olympiad in Astronomy – an Astrophysics one hour paper. Well done Helen Money-Kyrle (MO U6).

2014/15 has been the most successful year for university applications to North America in the College’s history. So far 37 acceptances for the USA or Canada have been received by the 23 pupils who applied, and we are still waiting for decisions from seven universities. Medical and Veterinary offers have also been received.

Congratulations to Lizzie Daniels (IH U6) who was Highly Commended in Newnham College’s Science Essay Prize 2015.On Sunday 19th April 2015, Oliver Bashall (C1 Sh) won the Old Marlburian Reading Prize for his truthful and powerful reading of his and Sophie Gow’s (MM Sh) work inspired by Chatwin’s In Patagonia.Many congratulations to Ellie Spark (MM Re) on her selection for the South West Academy Netball team. Following the successful completion of the Wiltshire Junior Development Centre (JDC) training, Celeste Spink (MO Re) represented Wiltshire U16 girls and Georgia Dunlop (MO Re) represented U15 girls at the regional JAC tournament. Alice Hook (MM U6), Lizzie Daniels (IH U6) and Joe Arkwright (SU U6) all played their part in the successful Orchestral and Ensembles Concert on Friday 15th May.
