Olympic Decathlete Visits
Olympic Decathlete Dean Macey visited the College on Thursday 25th February for a coaching inset day.
Macey worked with a group of Marlborough staff as well as visiting sports coaches to develop their coaching knowledge in what proved to be an informative and enjoyable day.
Head of Athletics, Marcus Sharrad, explained more behind the visit.
“Dean has a wealth of experience across all events as a decathlete, having finished fourth at consecutive Olympics at Sydney 2000 and at Athens 2004.
“He was someone who I was very keen to get in to upskill both myself and all the other coaches here at the College. Dean passed on a range of useful tips, drills and I’d like to thank him for coming along and laying on a great programme.”
Dean Macey added: “I love coaching the coaches and over the period of a year they will be able to pass on some of my 20 years of experience and knowledge to the whole school.
“There is an endless book of athletics drills but I try to simplify the coaching and make it easy for coaches to go and pass on that information. Athletics is a very technical sport because it is so diverse.”
