Mount House Exhibition Open

The next Mount House exhibition, “Strange but somehow beautiful” is of sculptures and textiles from the Adan people of South East Ghana which belong to journalist and enthusiast Mike Yates.

His interest goes back to the 1970s and is part of decades of collecting, recording and writing about folk music, ceramics and painting.

The writer Bruce Chatwin (B1) also features in the exhibition as he visited the region and then wrote the amazing story ‘The Viceroy of Oudiah’ (1980) which in turn inspired the film Cobra Verde by Werner Herzog starring Klaus Kinski. There will be a screening of the film in the Mount House. All are welcome to the opening and the screening of the film.

The opening is on Friday 29th April from 6.30pm – 8pm.

The film Cobra Verde will be shown on Wednesday 4th May at 7.30pm.

The Exhibition runs from Wednesday 4th May through until Sunday 22nd May open each Wednesday (2.30pm-5pm), Saturday’s (9am-1pm) and Sunday’s 2.30pm-5pm).
