U14s crowned County Champions

On Sunday 20th November the U14s, U16s and U19s Netball squads travelled to Dorcan Netball Centre to play in the County round of the National Schools Tournament.

After a slow start the U14s got into their rhythm and played some fantastic netball. As a team they defended all through the court which created lots of turnover opportunities that we were able to convert into goals. The movement through court was played at a fast but controlled pace with the girls playing some great straight line balls down the court. Every squad member played their part, supporting each other both on and off court and were crowned Champions.

The U16 team were a combination of Remove and Hundred players gelling as the competition progressed. The team placed fourth, winning four of their seven games. A particular highlight was beating Dauntsey’s – the first time this had been achieved during the girls’ school careers – by 9 goals to 4. There were standout performances from Lara Beckett, ever reliable in the centre bib, and Daisy Head, playing intelligently whilst out of position at Goal Shooter.

The U19s were also crowned County Champions and played some fantastic netball throughout the day. Their attacking was fluent which created many shooting opportunities when they worked the ball to the shooters. Our defensive unit of Georgie Henderson, Sandy Lyster-Binns and Emily Boom were so tight the opposition struggled to get the ball into the attacking circle. The girls can now look forward to further netball successes in the Lent Term, building on the firm foundations which they have laid.
