Swindon Academy Summer School

From 12th to 16th June, thirty Year 7 Grammar Stream pupils from Swindon Academy attended a Marlborough College Summer School.

Marlborough College has been involved in supporting the Academy Grammar Stream, with weekly Latin lessons and extended academic visits. This summer school is just one more initiative designed to give the academy pupils a grammar school experience.

Pupils were kept very busy with challenging and fun academic activities on archaeology, music, art, history, drama, mathematics, critical thinking, and astronomy.  Pupils were also exposed to new sports, and all completed a demanding walk from Marlborough to Avebury.

It is long been our desire to combine Marlborough’s unique and beautiful location, with its teaching strengths, to offer many more academic extension activities to Academy pupils. It is hoped that this residential summer school will be an annual event.
