French Final for Yearlings Rugby
Yearlings Rugby players have just returned from an enjoyable three-day trip to France, where they finished runners up in an international rugby tournament hosted by Stade Français.
Based in Paris, the tour party watched Castres win an entertaining Top 14 final against Montpellier on Saturday afternoon before their own chance to shine the following day.
After wins in the group stage and a last-gasp conversion sealing a semi-final victory, Marlborough made it through to the final of the competition against Montauban who were eventual winners.
Head of Rugby, Terry Gilmour, commented: “It is no surprise that the boys advanced to the final of the Stade Français Cup, as they had a terrific Michaelmas Term with Mr Harrison and Mr Tilney and progressed onto the final stages of Rosslyn Park National 7’s. So, with a nucleus of boys still enthusiastic to play rugby well into the Summer Term, the future of rugby at Marlborough feels positive and certainly rewarding for everyone willing to give it a go.
“A special mention of thanks to Mr Lauze who organised the trip, Mr Clayton and all the supportive families in the stadium plus a special mention of thanks to our hosts at Stade Français.”
