Primary Schools enjoy Rugby Taster Day
Sixty Primary School pupils attended a rugby taster day at Marlborough College on Friday 28th September.
Coaching was provided by Marlborough College staff including Head of Rugby Terry Gilmour, who was joined by former England Under 18s coach Russell Earnshaw and members of the Bath Rugby Academy coaching team.
Primary schools in attendance included St Michael’s Aldbourne, Marlborough St Mary’s, Preshute, St Katherine’s, Broad Hinton, Ramsbury and Pinewood.
John Carroll, Assistant Director of Admissions, commented: “This is the second taster day we have run, following the successful cricket event with Charlotte Edwards in the summer. It’s about giving local children the opportunity of coming and enjoying our facilities and learning from an array of different coaches. Primary Schools from all around the region have been joined by local Prep Schools here today and we will be running similar events with a hockey day after half-term and a racket sports taster day next term.”
Rebe Horton, Director of Sport at Marlborough College, added: “At Marlborough we are passionate about sport in general and what it does for children in education. We are keen for as many children as possible to benefit from that and it’s been brilliant to see so many smiles on faces here today.”
