College Rare Books at the Literature Festival

Visitors to last weekend’s Marlborough Literary Festival were able to take a break from discussing the very latest in fiction and poetry as the College staged a presentation of some holdings from our Rare Books collection.

The Keeper of Rare Books, Dr McKeown, gave a talk focusing mainly on first editions of works by Milton, Thomson, Dickens, Morris, and Sassoon, but the discussion opened out to include, among other things, Tudor Bibles, early alchemy books, and illustrated song books from the eighteenth century.

It was a delight to welcome such an interested audience to the College to share in our literary heritage.
