Commemoration Day

The final event of Marlborough College’s 175th anniversary celebrations is Commemoration Day on Saturday 26th May 2018.

2018 also marks 50 years of girls at Marlborough and celebrations to mark this landmark occasion will continue into Michaelmas, when first cohort arrived.

The day will include a wide range of events and activities, with the highlights including:

9.15am – Upper Sixth Assembly with the Master 

9.30am - Girls’ Cricket v Rugby School (T20)

10am - 11.30am - OM Reception in the Pavilion Marquee

10am – Upper Sixth Prize Giving followed by a Commemoration Service in Chapel for the Upper Sixth and their parents

11am - Beagles demonstration (Polloi), Shell play, ‘Grimm’s Fairy Tales’ (Ellis), Mount House exhibition, 

12pm - Drinks Reception on Polloi

12.30pm - Speeches by the Master, Jonathan Leigh, and Chairman of Council, Lord Malloch-Brown KCMG PC 

1pm - 1st XI Cricket v Lord’s Taverners Celebrity XI

2pm - OM Sports fixtures including Fives, Hockey, Lacrosse and Rackets

2.30pm - An opportunity to listen to The Master in conversation with Kirsty Young

3.30pm – Second Prize Giving for the Shell, Remove, Hundred and Lower Sixth for prize-winners and their parents

3.30pm - Lord’s Taverners Celebrity XI v Help for Heroes XI (T20)

4pm - Tea in the Pavilion Marquee

4.15pm – Commemoration Day ends and half-term begins

There will also be catering available to purchase throughout the afternoon from the World Food Tent, Cotswold Pizza Company and Ramsbury Brewery.

The day will also offer all those connected with the Marlborough College community the chance to say thank you to the outgoing Master of Marlborough College, Jonathan Leigh, who will retire in August 2018 after six outstanding years of service.
