(I)GCSE Results

2018 Summary

Marlborough’s (I)GCSE candidates have demonstrated the College’s academic strength by achieving the highest average point score as far back as our records extend.

Deputy Head (Academic), Ed Tolputt reported: “Huge congratulations are due to our outgoing Hundred. 48% of entries were awarded A* (or A* equivalent) with 34% of candidates achieving the impressive milestone of 8 or more A* grades (or 8s and 9s for those subjects graded 1 to 9). The cohort achieved an average points total of 76, the equivalent to a ten-grade portfolio of 4A*s and 6As. Success stories can be found throughout the results table, however the 20 pupils who achieved 11 A*s (or A* equivalent) deserve special praise. Perpetua Haydn Taylor (NC) achieved the remarkable feat of 12 A*s (or A* equivalent) which included 5 (out of 5) Grade 9s.”

Master, Louise Moelwyn-Hughes, and retiring Master, Jonathan Leigh, recorded their thanks to the year group on such outstanding results and to the staff who did so much in teaching and supporting this talented cohort. Marlborough’s academic future is in safe hands indeed.
