About

The College has very close coaching links to Swindon Town Football Club and two professionals from the club, Jon Holloway and Clive Maguire have been instrumental in the success of football at Marlborough.

They have also provided invaluable support and guidance on tours to Barcelona, Singapore, Malaysia, Prague, Norway as well as our regular trips to Sweden to compete in the Gothia Youth World Cup which is held annually in Gothenburg.

After leaving Marlborough many old boys continue to play football and the annual fixture against the Old Marlburians is always a good occasion. Since 2010 the OMs have joined the Arthurian League, a competition between teams from the alumni of leading independent schools.

Facilities

There are seven football pitches at Marlborough with first team matches for the XI played on the prestigious Aths Track surface.

Matches

Traditionally the 1st XI has been known as “the Granham Casuals” or “Grannies” but there are 12 teams from the Remove upwards which represent the College on a regular basis on Saturday afternoons. These matches are scheduled for most weekends in both the Michaelmas and Lent Terms for all the Open teams and long-standing fixtures include Eton, Winchester, Bradfield and Charterhouse.
