Art Scholars' Exhibition

The Mount House Gallery
Reviewed by Vincent Stokes

This year’s exhibition was a lively affair, displaying a wealth of talent from the art scholars in all year groups. The work on show bore witness to projects undertaken by the group as a whole, as well as pieces from individual’s folios.

One section of the gallery was devoted to a diverse range of drawings made from cardboard ‘fragments of Venice’. The actual pieces spilled across the floor (see right), making sense of the expressive, gestural responses on the walls.

The small side gallery was devoted to a body of work exploring a theme of ‘clothing’.  Wire dresses, imaginative fashion proposals and inventive photography all played their role here.

It was pleasing, too, to see a number of sketchbooks/workbooks included.
