Not even six inches of snow could prevent the Marlborough College Charity Day from going ahead. It started with a coin trail around Court and finished with a spectacular concert in the Memorial Hall.

With jazz music throughout the afternoon and cake sales in Court and Norwood Hall, the atmosphere was one of excitement and generosity. Th concert stood as a demonstration of impressive talent of Marlburough pupils past and present.

From the old pupils, we had harp playing from Rhiannon George-Carey, comedy from Jack Whitehall, Freddy Syborn and Josh Allott and singing from Tor Lupton and Gabby Young. Even some of Common Room ventured into the limelight, with Mr Carroll surprising us with his impersonation of Michael Bublé.

Current Marlburough pupils also provided entertainment through stirring monologues, a comedy sketch, ballet and filmed animations, the latter created by Dan Dreyfus. Martin Evans conducted the raffle and Summerfield performed their winning House Harmony entry to an eager audience.

The two charities supported by this event, the Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust and the Theo Dreyfus Bolivian Memorial Fund, are close to the hearts of many Marlburians. The total raised is currently just over £4000.
