The event - the first of its kind to be held at Marlborough - was the brainchild of a few keen debaters in the Hundred (Year 11), who wanted more debating for their age group and to put on a charity event.

These pupils produced all the publicity material, invitations and motions for debate, finding particular success with the selling of Help for Heroes wristbands. For the first time, it was possible to complete a debating entry form via the College's Intranet.

More money was raised on the day through the brisk sale of delicious cakes that had been specially prepared by pupils who do 'Cooking for Charity' as a Wednesday afternoon activity.

Two Old Marlburians returned to the College to help with the adjudication of the event.
