Members of the College's Charity Think Tank travelled to London to visit the charities, Kids Company and Live magazine.  The day was coordinated by Adele Eastman, who is one of the trustees of the Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust.

In Kilburn, we were shown around Kids Company by teacher & Centre Manager, Andy Gough (Old Marlburian). The charity provides practical and emotional support for children, bringing positive changes to their lives. We were inspired by the effort in evidence there, even down to the detail of the wall illustrations painted by volunteers.

Based in Brixton, Live Magazine is pioneering, progressive and successful in its aim to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK. Created and controlled entirely by 12-21 year old volunteers with the support and guidance of professional journalists, photographers, illustrators and designers, Live features hard-hitting articles about such issues as drugs, gun and knife crime and music. Callum McGeoch (Old Marlburian) and fellow journalist, Emma, explained the benefits of this charity. Their enthusiasm was remarkable and we hope to incorporate some of their ideas in our own publications here at Marlborough.
