Narrative Painting & Quirky Characters
Written by Vincent Stokes

Toby’s oil paintings explore mysterious narratives through the depiction of a succession of quirky characters and portraits. Allusions to the worlds of Bruegel and Goya are never far away.

This exhibition of large paintings represented work completed over the last three years. It was an invitation to reflect upon the nature of narrative painting, as well as marvel at Toby's exemplary draughtsmanship.

Toby studied at the University for the Creative Arts, Kent, and at the Bauhaus University, Weimar.

Toby Hunt last exhibited here in Marlborough in 2003. Since then, he has shown his work on many occasions in this country and abroad.
