Barton Hill was founded as an all-age house in 1974 and houses 61 boys. It moved into purpose-built accommodation from that date being added onto what was originally the Bursar’s private dwelling, a building which dates from the 1860s and where the housemaster now lives. It is situated on the north side of the Bath Road, set up the hill from the road, about five minutes walk from the centre of the College.
Neil Moore was appointed to be Housemaster of Barton Hill in September 2005, following four years as Housemaster of C1. He teaches biology and, for a time, was Head of General Studies at the College.
He continues to coach rugby and was also Master in Charge of Athletics. He is a keen bagpipe player having built up a thriving interest in this instrument amongst College students. He is married to Lyndel and has two daughters, Alice and Emma.
