C1 houses 55 boys, with 11 boys in each year group.
 
Situated at the southern end of Court at the heart of the school, C1 is located in the oldest of the College buildings. The building was originally the home of the Seymour family before becoming The Castle Inn and then Marlborough College at its foundation in 1843.

Ben Miller became Housemaster of C1 in September 2005 three years after joining the College. He has taught Geography, has tutored in Barton Hill and has coached rugby, hockey and cricket. He has also assisted with outdoor activities, Duke of Edinburgh and expeditions to India and the Sinai Desert. Ben is married to Katie and they have two daughters, Olivia, who was born in 2005 and Florence, born in 2007.
