The Reserve List

Children on the Reserve List are not guaranteed a place in the school. However, if at any time, a firm place should become available, the Senior Admissions Tutor may contact parents to make a Firm Offer.

Confirmation of a Firm Offer

Once a firm offer has been made, the payment of a registration fee of £150 will secure a place in the school.

Even after a firm offer has been confirmed, a place in the school is subject to a satisfactory reference from the candidate's previous school and to the candidate receiving a Scholarship or reaching the required academic standard in the Common Entrance examination.

In February 2007, the Admissions Department will write to the parents of all prospective pupils who have been given Firm Offers for entry in September 2008 asking if they would like to confirm these offers.

The closing date for the confirmation of firm offers will be in early May 2007.

Open Day

There will be an Open Day at the College in April 2007 for all those with Firm Offers who intend to enter the school the following year.

Pre-assessment

Children who have had their Firm Offers confirmed, and yet who are thought by their parents or prep schools to be academically borderline for entry, will be asked to sit a pre-assessment examination in June 2007 or January 2008.

The parents of children who are withdrawn from entry for academic reasons after they have taken a pre-assessment, will be refunded their confirmation fees.

Scholarship Assessments and Awards

In February or March 2008, assessments will be held for those with confirmed places who are seeking Music, Academic and Art Scholarships, Sports Awards or Anniversary Bursary Awards. Further information.

Common Entrance

Candidates who have been offered firm places must affirm their entry either through success in the Academic Scholarship Examinations or by achieving an average of 60% in Common Entrance examinations. They must gain 55% in English, Science, a modern foreign language and Mathematics.

For candidates attending schools which do not prepare for Common Entrance different expectations apply. Click here.

June Visit

On a Sunday afternoon towards the end of June Housemasters and Housemistresses will invite all new pupils who hold confirmed places to come with their parents to an informal meeting. Children will be able to meet their new Housemaster or Housemistress and fellow pupils, and parents can gather more information about the workings of the House and school.
