Littlefield
Littlefield is a mixed, out-College house, where 45 boys and 15 Upper School girls form the house community.
Littlefield was built in 1871 at the same time as Cotton House but was extensively rebuilt in 1964 after a holiday-time fire destroyed one wing. It stands back from the north side of Bath Road in its own grounds and is five minutes’ walk from the centre of the College. The house has its own dining room, for breakfast each morning as well as evening meals four times a week.
James Lyon Taylor was appointed Housemaster of Littlefield from September 2009. He holds a degree in Biology from the University of Bristol and a PGCE from the University of Reading. He is an accomplished sportsman and a committed Christian: he joined the staff at Marlborough in 2006 from Brighton College where he was Head of Shell and has quickly established himself as a first-rate schoolmaster. He has a strong interest in pastoral care, having worked in the boarding house at Brighton, and is currently a tutor in C3. He is married to Eleanor, herself a prep school teacher, and they have two young children.
