Rupert Rosedale, the College’s inspirational and dedicated Head of Outdoor Activities, lost his life in an avalanche on Ben Nevis on 30th December 2009.

Memorial Service
A memorial service was held on Thursday 18th January in the College Chapel. The service included moving tributes from Rupert's siblings, Kath, Lawrence and Ben Rosedale, the Master and Simon Foster of Turner House, where Rupert was a boarding house tutor.

Simon Foster's tribute, and a further tribute from Nick Parks, Rupert's predecessor as Head of Outdoor Activities at Marlborough, can be found opposite.

There was a reception in the Norwood Hall after the service and, at dusk, hot air balloons and a series of chinese lanterns were launched from Court in Rupert's honour and with Rupert's extended family in attendance.

The retiring collection from the memorial service raised £1931 for the Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust.
