Housemaster: Bill Nicholas
Resident House Tutor:         Rachel Bruce

Summerfield is a Mixed House and has recently been extended to cater for fifty boys and ten Upper School girls.

Summerfield dates from 1875 and enjoys a leafy location on Hyde Lane. It was originally built as an extension onto a teacher’s private house to accommodate boarding boys. It opened as a full boarding house in 1953 and, in 1970, soon after the arrival of Sixth Form girls at Marlborough, became a Mixed House.

Bill Nicholas arrived at Marlborough to teach Chemistry in September 1998 and was appointed Resident House Tutor of Turner House in 1999 where he remained until his promotion to Summerfield in 2006. During his time at Marlborough, he has organised and led major overseas sports tours, been a team leader at the Summer School, helped develop the video editing facilities at the College and coached a variety of sports. He has coached the 1st XV for the last six years.

Bill is married to Sheryl and they have two young children.
