Turner

Housemaster: Alan McKnight
Resident House Tutor:   Garry Doyle

Turner is a Mixed House, less than five minutes’ walk from Court; its 54 boys and 8 girls live on the North side of the Bath Road, adjacent to the sports' fields and tennis courts.

Turner shares its main building with the College’s Medical Centre. It became a boarding house in 1967. The beautiful Hermitage, one of the oldest buildings in Marlborough (C17th), houses the Sixth Form girls and Shell pupils, who, during the day, study in the main House at the other end of the garden.

Alan McKnight was appointed to Marlborough in September 1981. He teaches Biology and was Head of Department from 1992 until becoming Housemaster of Turner in 1996. He has extensive experience of coaching sports and was Master in Charge of squash between 1985 and 2002.

Alan is married to Claire, an artist. Claire is a tutor in Turner House, and they have two grown up children.
