Current Campaigns
Marlborough College is a distinctive and vibrant community within which scholarship is cherished, creativity is illustrated, service is promoted and conversation is paramount. We are a leading school but we know that we cannot stand still and that we have a great deal to do. Our vision for the future is innovative and original and builds upon our tradition of looking forward.
Scholarship and Bursary Endowment
Through bequests from the College community the Foundation hopes to build a substantial endowment which will support our existing scholarships and bursaries as well as allowing us to establish many more. The 1843 Society helps to promote such giving and allows the Foundation to thank generous benefactors whilst living.
Capital Campaign 2008—2013
The Heywood Block will provide spacious, light, flexible learning areas designed to sustain our educational aims. The new building replaces the original Heywood Block with two storeys, sixteen classrooms and the use of renewable energy sources such as solar panels, wind turbines and a sedum green roof.
We wish to build a new girls’ boarding house to improve the balance between boys and girls within the pupil community at Marlborough College. This project will be situated in the grounds of the College and will uphold and develop our unrivalled system of pastoral care that has become such a feature of life at Marlborough.
The refurbishment of the Bradleian will promote cultural richness among our pupils. The Bradleian forms a key part of our heritage: it occupies a prominent position within Court and has housed plays, classes, lectures, lessons and social events. We wish to refurbish and renew the building in order to make the most of new technologies and to create a space at the heart of the College which can offer high resolution projection, video conferencing links to other schools around the world, versatile retractable seating and a first-rate venue for artistic and cultural performances.
Our ambition to create an International Study Centre here at Marlborough is a key element within this strategy. We wish to create a facility which can welcome visitors from around the world who can enrich our programmes and our pupils’ experience: we will be able to invite great teachers from partner schools to spend time with us, but also composers, performers, businessmen, priests, artists and politicians. The Centre would also have the capacity to house visiting groups of pupils from different countries and to offer them short courses in British and European culture.
Annual Fund
The Annual Fund comprises of smaller projects that need immediate funding around the College campus. Every year we contact a number of Old Marlburians and parents by telephone and mail to ask for a small monthly or annual contribution.
For the 2008—2009 Fund we have identified the installation of a new astro-turf pitch as a priority and the Foundation is also pleased to support a strings scholarship, which will enhance the number and quality of strings players at Marlborough. Further projects will be announced shortly.
