Recently Completed Projects

We are indebted to so many for the donations, gifts and legacies that the College has received over the past few years. Only through the commitment and goodwill of Old Marlburians, parents and former parents alike has it been possible to complete these exciting projects.

So far...

The work of the Foundation has enabled the College to build The Marlburian, a social centre for pupils. This is a place to converse, relax and strengthen friendship and a sense of community amongst young Marlburians. The facility also generates reliable income for the College through external bookings.

The Henry Hony Centre, which includes the Ellis Theatre, was opened in 2001 and offers a first-rate set off facilities for the promotion of the performing arts. The Centre is home to a rich programme of musical and dramatic performances and enables young musicians and actors to discuss, polish and elevate their talents.

The College’s state-of-the-art Swimming Pool, complete with hydraulic floor, was opened in 2003: it has offered pupils a wonderful year-round facility. Inter-house competitions and competitive matches are an integral part of the school’s sporting calendar and help to build team spirit. Marlborough swimmers have won national competitions and have used the pool to hone their skills: recent leavers have competed in the World Swimming Championships and the Olympic Games.

The new Art School is an innovative and imaginative space within which young artists can benefit from great teaching. Significant benefactions were offered to the Foundation in order to create this dynamic centre, which includes exhibition space, facilities for film-making and a range of first-rate teaching areas.

At the heart of the College is the Chapel which has been extensively refurbished. Within the Chapel a superb new organ has been built by Beckerath of Hamburg. This new instrument beautifies worship and enables the College to encourage young people to explore spiritual possibilities sustained by music within the most inspiring of settings.
