Academic Music

Class music is part of the normal curriculum during the first year (Shell). Large numbers take GCSE Music as an option in the Remove and Hundred years.

Music is enjoyed by unusually large numbers in the Upper School, with 8-12 pupils in each class. The College also enjoys outstanding Music Technology facilities, which can be used by all pupils if they sign up to the Music Technology Society but are used most intensely by those taking AS and A2 Music Technology.

Instrumental Music

650 instrumental music lessons are taught weekly to around 450 pupils (representing about fifty percent of the College). Instrumental examinations are offered through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and through Trinity Guildhall. Music theory tuition and aural lessons are also offered on a weekly basis.

Pupils approaching Diploma level are offered weekly repertoire lessons with one of the official accompanists.
