Great USA Eclipse

Charles Barclay co-led an Oxford and Cambridge Alumni Tour to view the 21st August Total Solar Eclipse.

Having travelled 1,700 miles from Arizona through Utah to Wyoming, the group of 40 watched from a private ranch in Jackson Hole WY below the Teton mountains. There was 2 minutes and 19 seconds of Totality in a clear sky. The Moon's shadow was filmed travelling at 2,000 mph across the valley and the rare shadow band 'snake' phenomenon was captured on camera but had a distinctive Y shape. The pearly white Corona was not extended due to the low Solar activity. Animal disquiet and confusion was observed in both local cows and geese and the temperature fell by some 12 degrees.
