UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge

Category: Academic

Marlborough Mathematicians, from Remove upwards, achieved excellent results in the recent UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge, with several students advancing to the follow on rounds.

An impressive 61 students achieved a medal this year with nine pupils entering the follow-up Senior Kangaroo or Olympiad.

Ben Place (C1) topped the school with a considerable score of 111 and qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1, an impressive feat for a pupil still in the Hundred. Simran Chowdhry (LI), Zach Place (CO) have scored the highest in their respective years and qualified for the Senior Kangaroo follow on round. They are joined by gold and silver medal winners Tuomas Laakonnen (B1), Wiliam Cheng (C2), Molly Gibbins (CO), Jon Lam (C1), Virat Talwar (C2) and Arlie Mahony (C1).

Meanwhile in the Remove Jamie Porter (TU) came top of his year group with an excellent Silver medal.

Congratulations to all of our students for their considerable mathematical achievements and I hope to deliver more good news with the upcoming follow-up round results.
