An introduction to our Artist-in-Residence 2015/16

Archie Franks is a painter, who studied at the Royal Academy Schools (2009-12).

Archie was recently awarded a one year residency at The British School At Rome (2013-14) and has also been selected (along with two other artists) for the prestigious Jerwood Painting Fellowship for this year. He will be creating work during his residency for the prize's culminating exhibition next May 2016 at Jerwood Space, London. The show will then tour the UK.

Archie will be joining Marlborough College at the start of the Michaelmas Term and his first solo exhibition at the College's Mount House Gallery will be held from Friday 18th September to Sunday 11th October.

Beaks, parents and students are of course, cordially invited to attend Archie's opening Mount House exhibition. We are also looking forward to seeing Archie undertake various workshops with our students, and view the progression of his art throughout the year.

A painting by Archie is presently on show at this year's RA Summer Exhibition.
