We had our first match against Eton for years with some excellent results. The first team won 17-10 with George Malloch Brown (CO L6) winning a total of 7 bouts out of 9 and Al Aldridge (CO L6) winning 3 out 3 epée bouts. Although the second team lost, we were much younger and it was a great experience for them.
Having been told that Bradfield were particularly weak this year we put out a much weaker team and lost overall 17-19! – we’ll be in full force next term. But the 2nd team fenced especially well, winning 10-8. There were great performances all around, particularly from Hector Sainsbury (CO Re) winning 4 out 6, and Theo Featherstone (C1 Re) winning 2 out 3.
Overall, it has been an excellent start and we look forward to more successes in the second half.
