The Lent Event took place this week with a team of seven spending three days in the school. Revd Rico Tice, the main speaker, was energetic and engaging, challenging us to consider whether Jesus Christ might be as central to life as a ball is to a game. His blend of self-deprecating humour, compassion and warmth endeared him to many. He spoke at both of the Chapel services, as well as the 6.30 talk on Sunday, and four voluntary evening events. Revd Charlie Skrine [OM] addressed the Sacristans on Sunday evening and gave a voluntary talk for the Shell on Tuesday.
The team included five OM’s, all of whom were delighted to be back here. As a group they contributed to RE lessons, sport and activities, and were made to feel extremely welcome as ‘guests’ in C1, C3, Cotton, Littlefield, Mill Mead and Morris. Many pupils came along to the talks, and Monday evening’s Lower School event was particularly well attended with the Bradleian packed to the gunnels. The Chaplaincy is grateful for the hard work of all the staff and Sacristans who supported the event, and especially the HM’s who welcomed the team into their houses.
