Tradition preserved and the season of Advent duly marked in classic style by the annual Advent Carol service in Chapel. An ever popular occasion within the College community, the Chapel looked resplendent, decorated with a thousand candles, creating a magical atmosphere for the choir to express themselves under Director of Chapel Music, Simon Taranczuk. Mr Taranczuk chose some slightly more obscure repertoire on this occasion, including the very effective 'I sing of a maiden' by former Marlborough College Director of Music, Robin Nelson, but it was all beautifully judged: atmospheric, relevant, varied and challenging - the latter negotiated superbly by the Choir and notably assisted by the Junior Singers, Ian Crabbe on organ and piano and additional brass descants. Readings were equally well delivered, making the service an absolute delight and well worth the huge effort invested by all performers.
A memorable occasion as ever and bravo to all.
