Compline for the Eve of St. Michael and All Angels

Category: Music, General, Community

Last Wednesday the recently formed Compline Choir, made up of the six most accomplished choral singers in College, sang Compline for the Eve of the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels (to whom Chapel is dedicated).

Alongside the traditional plainsong, the candlelit congregation enjoyed Palestrina’s Sicut cervus, Arvo Pärt’s Da pacem Domine, as well as the hymn for the feast day, Te splendour et virtue Patris, the words of which are painted round the lower part of the roof of the Chapel. This group will perform in the Carol Services at the end of term, and will next sing Compline on Ash Wednesday (1st March 2017).
