May Day Madrigals

Category: Music, General, Community

To complement a rather damp, chilly but still morning, a reflective start in the key of G minor seemed entirely appropriate for the annual May Day Madrigals on the Bradleian arches.

The Choir is in excellent voice this year (even at 8am in the morning) and as the sunlight dawned during Jim Bartlett’s schmoozy arrangement of Randy Newman’s When she loved me it all came together quite harmoniously.   Dynamics (particularly beautifully observed pianos), clear diction and some expressive music making were all on display for the healthy numbers assembled in Court, ensuring that this noble and long-standing tradition was once again preserved in fine style.
