December

Congratulations to Jenia Borisenko (LI U6) who has received the news that she has gained a place at Stanford to read Global Health.

Many congratulations to Dom Coulson (C1 Hu) who won the U16 Incledon-Webber Cup at Queen's Club on Friday 11th December.

Congratulations to Alex Martin (PR U6) who has gained a Silver Award in the British Physics Olympiad.
 
Theo Featherstone (C1 U6), William Beattie (SU U6), Anna O'Donald (MO U6) and Sam Burdett (B1 U6) all gained Commendation Awards having already done exceptionally well to qualify for this hard paper.

Camilla Lazell
(EL 2010-15) has been recognised for achieving the highest mark nationally for Cambridge Pre-U Philosophy & Theology, in the June 2015 examination series.

November

Congratulations to Max Fillingham (TU Sh) who represented Great Britain in the World Karate Championships Cup in Venice during half-term.  With over 54 countries attending, Fillingham competed in the Under 16 category and managed to secure the Gold Medal. A fantastic achievement at a World Event.

The Hurlingham Polo Association is sending a quartet of under-15 players to attend camps in South Africa, including Ben Barnes (C3 Re). The trip has been organised to help to reinforce the development of the most-talented juniors in England.

Ibby Lee (NC Hu) has continued her shooting success from last year (National Champion) in the English Schools 50m Small Bore Rifle Challenge on Saturday by winning Bronze in the U16 pairs competition.

The winner if The Old Marlburian Reading Prize was Annabel Hannan (NC Sh) for her prose piece, ‘My Sister’, written in response to a passage by Bruce Chatwin. Tate Oliphant (MO Sh) was highly commended for another poem, ‘A Room Remembered’, along with Perpetua Haydn Taylor (NC Sh) for her poem, ‘After Sassoon’.

Sarah Mattinson (MM L6) achieved success in this year’s Mathematical Olympiad for Girls. Over 1,500 girls nationwide participated with the top 25% achieving a Distinction. This means that Sarah is one of the top 25% of the top 1,500 girls in the country with regard to Mathematics.

The Marlborough A team of Ned Tarlton (TU U6), Jamie Quinn (LI U6), Conor Evans (TU U6), Henry Gouriet (C3 Hu) and Piers Tabor (B1 Re) have retained the Marlborough Sporting Clay Shield. Tarlton won the High Gun Trophy and Evans was third.

Violinist Lizzie Daniels (IH U6) performed Camille Saint-Saens' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso to a distinguished group of Old Marlburians in the College's Memorial Hall on Sunday 11th October, accompanied by Clare Toomer.

The following girls have been selected to the Wiltshire and Dorset U19A and U19B County Lacrosse teams: Katie Vogel (EL U6), Suzanne Lewis (NC U6), Amy Smart (U6 CO), Olivia Gaillard (MO U6), Mashie Agnew (EL L6), Lara Bracher (MO HU) and Natasha White (IV U6).

At U15 level Claudie Granger (IH Sh) and Anna Tchen (NC Sh) have been selected for the A team, Mimi Grant (EL Re) for the B team and Millie Middleton (IH Re) as a reserve. Anna Tchen (NC Sh) and Claudie Grainger (IH Sh) have been selected to play for the Wiltshire & Dorset U15A Team in the County Tournament. 

To add to her A* success in Astronomy GCSE this summer, Sarah Mattinson (MM L6) has received the news that she came fourth nationally out of several thousand entrants and will receive a President's Certificate from the Royal Astronomical Society.

Ella Bennett
(IV L6) represented Great Britain at the World Youth Sailing Championships in Japan and finished 22nd (3rd British boat).  This is the 16-25yr age group.  She is now trialling for the British Youth Squad.

Competing in the U14 World Biathlon Championships in Georgia, Charlie Madden finished 18th out of 43 competitors - a very fine performance.

Congratulations to Joash Nelson-Piercy (CO U6) who won the Wiltshire Under-19 Squash tournament, winning all four of his matches without dropping a single game – walking away with two trophies after a successful day’s play.

Henry Martin (PR U6), a member of the Bath Rugby Academy, has taken part in a two-day training camp with England Rugby’s Academy.

The U14 Girls' Hockey team retained the U14 Wiltshire County Championship on Wednesday 23rd September at Dauntsey's School. The girls now progress to the West Regional Finals as the number 1 ranked school side in Wiltshire, to be held on Thursday 26th November at Clifton College.
