Last year members of the Upper Sixth and the Charity Think Tank organised a Whole School Charity Day. This day raised money for Tom’s Trust and the Theo Dreyfus Bolivian Memorial Fund (charities set up in the memory of two Old Marlburians). As part of the day, the boys’ hockey XI team was due to sport a one-off shirt for the Saturday fixture, with the logos of both charities emblazoned on the front, before being donated to the Swaziland based rugby Charity, SKRUM. However, Marlborough was covered in snow on the day and the match against Abingdon was cancelled. However, the shirts were delivered to SKRUM HQ in Swaziland in July by Marlburians on the Wilderness Trail.

We have recently received the news that the shirts have become the strip of a team called the Vondo’s and were worn by the team in the first game of the 2011 Malayisha Rugby League at the Correctional Services Sports Ground in Matsapha - the Rangers lost 20 – 55 to the Vondo’s. Knowing that the team, miles away from Marlborough College, bears the names of two well-loved Old Marlburians on their shirts is a proud image for the college.
