Marlborough College and Radley College competed for the Silk Cup on Saturday afternoon, a trophy named in honour of Dennis Silk.

Presented by The Marlburian Club, the Silk Cup is in honour of DRW Silk who was both the coach of the all-conquering Marlborough XV of 1963 and subsequently Warden of Radley from 1968-1991.

Radley were the inaugural winners of the trophy in 2013, but Marlborough won the day on Saturday with nine wins, two draws and five defeats from all fixtures.

Master in Charge of Rugby, Budge Pountney, offered his views on another competitive weekend.

"The Silk Cup proved once again what a fantastic fixture it is, all games were very competitive - none more so than the XV and XL fixtures which only had nine points scored between the two games.

"The performances of Colts, JC’s and Yearlings across the board were outstanding."
