Marlborough win international tournament

Marlborough College were winners of the Plate competition the the prestigious International Schools Rugby Sevens Tournament.

Played on the fields where the game was born, schools from Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, as well as teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland took part as part of Rugby School's 450th Anniversary celebrations.

Marlborough lost just one game in the tournament, against eventual tournament winners Hilton College (South Africa), before winning the Plate with a 22-12 final win against Fettes College.

Jason Leonard OBE, President of the Rugby Football Union, was in attendance and presented the 450th Anniversary Rugby Tournament cap to Marlborough captain Jay Cooke at dinner on Friday evening.
