A select group of Music Scholars travelled on the hottest October day ever recorded to the delightful town of Chard to give a dry run performance in preparation for the major annual Music Scholars’ Gala Concert at the Royal Over-Seas League in London. In a charming converted barn the audience was tightly packed in to witness some fine solo and chamber music items which, through a retiring collection, generated £250 towards George Johnson’s parachute jump in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital. The audience was suitably enthralled – one gentleman remarking afterwards that “they were great ambassadors of the College”. Can’t say better than that.
