Four players from the Marlborough College Lacrosse programme were chosen to represent Wiltshire and Dorset in the West Counties Tournament Saturday 12th November at St Mary's Calne.
Bunny Johnson (EL U6), Clemmie Haxby (EL Hu), and Jessie Dibben (MM L6) played extremely well for the U-19 B squad coached by Marlborough's Head of Lacrosse, Miss B K Faulkner. The team won against Hampshire 12-3, Gloucester & Somerset 17-2, and lost in a heart breaking well-timed shot at the whistle to Berkshire 7-8, to place second overall in their division for the day. Bunny Johnson totalled 2 goals and an assist, Clemmie Haxby had 2 assists and Jessie Dibben played excellent man-to-man D and caused many turnovers throughout the day.
Antonia Hudson (LI U6) played low attack for the U-19 A Wilts and Dorset squad and contributed some beautiful goals in matches throughout the day. The U-19 A team went on to win their first two games against Hampshire and Gloucester & Somerset and narrowly beat Berkshire by one goal in the last game to win the tournament overall. Hudson was selected to try out for the West of England squad, which had first round trials at Marlborough on Sunday 13th November. She will face her second round of trials on November the 27th in preparation for the Junior Territorial Tournament on the 3rd and 4th of December.
The U-15 County Tournament will take place on Sunday the 15th January. Marlborough Open First players Tamsin Bracher (MO Re), and Ellie Backhouse (MO Re) will play for the Wiltshire & Dorset A, and B teams respectively. Bracher was also selected to co-captain the U-15 A team.
