Simon Mordant (B1 1973-77), Chairman of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney Australia, and his family have made an extraordinary and unprecedented commitment to a contemporary art project with a donation of $15 million. The redevelopment of the MCA at Sydney's Circular Quay begins in June 2010 and will provide Australia with a world class art and educational institution. |

| Ian Beer (CR 1955-61) was present at 10 Downing Street as Chairman of the RFU Injured Players Foundation when it was launched by the Prime Minister. Martin Johnson, England Team Manager, pledged the support of the England Squad. It represents the culmination of 16 years of work and now will help players who suffer from catastrophic injury for their lifetime. John Metcalfe (C3 1947-51) has been awarded an MBE for 'voluntary services to Dorchester Abbey in Oxfordshire'. He was the project manager for the £4million refurbishment which has taken just on 10 years. John, whose professional life was in agricultural research and publishing, worked on the project following retirement and found it both fascinating and worthwhile. |

Best-selling author and illustrator of children’s books, Lauren Child (B1 1982-84), and her publisher, Hachette Children’s Books, are donating royalties from her best-selling book “That Pesky Rat” to UNESCO’s Programme for the Education of Children in Need for three years. The funds generated from book sales will finance UNESCO-supported projects, for example the Renacimiento Foundation for street children in Mexico City. A new edition of “That Pesky Rat” has been published in the UK which includes stories of children in the Foundation’s care. The partnership also encompasses “My Life is a Story”, a campaign initiated by Lauren to collect stories of children around the world – including sotires from children participating in projects affiliated with UNESCO’s Programme for the Education of Children in Need.
