Writing off the beaten track
Based at the edge of the Peak District, Millrace is a small publishing company specialising in outdoor, mountaineering and travel-history books. Print runs are short (usually around 1000 copies) and the writing is lively and eccentric, full of ideas and dry humour. You won't find books quite like these anywhere else.
The Millrace format is distinctive, small, attractive and made to last, for we believe they are books you will want to keep.
Recent Success:
A Rope of Writers by Graham Wilson, was on the shortlist of five for this year's Boardman Tasker mountaineering literature prize.
Quotes:
“Small format hardbacks, they are a reminder of the standards by which books were once produced: fine paper, simple but elegant dustjackets, properly stitched bindings, carefully illustrated, often with specially commissioned drawings.” Kate Chisholm, The Spectator, Christmas 2004
