Personal Background
Clare College, Cambridge. Joined family firm of Chartered Surveyors in 1954 being partner and then Senior Partner. Continuously involved with RICS since 1956. President of Cambridge University Land Society 1969; co-founded RICS singers 1979; inaugural Senior Warden of Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors obtaining Livery status. Liveryman of the Turners' Company; 1984 awarded Honorary Doctor of Science for services to Cambridge University. Visiting Professor to the School of Surveying, Kingston Polytechnic; author of several books. In 1983 appointed Surveyor to the Merchant Taylors Co and 1959-90 Director of Building Societies. From 1994-99 Non Executive Chairman of Ealing Hospital Trust; 2004 Chairman Hospital League of Friends. Governor of several schools and Trustee of Ironbridge Gorge Museum Development Trust. Currently involved in various charity work.
