Life. London College of Printing (now London College of Communication part of the University of the Arts London). Life again.
To some viewers a photograph is a representation of something material or real and to create an abstract upsets their idea of what a photograph should be. There have been, however, many distinguished forays in the direction of abstract images, starting with Schadographs and Rayographs in the 1920s and continuing to this day with photograms. I have created my images by taking a photograph - usually a studio shot but not always - and experimenting with it on the computer. The computer and the digital camera certainly speed up the process of experimentation.
