House Summerfield
Years at Marlborough 1979-81
Committee Member Title Co-opted Member and Previous Past President

Role within the committee

Helping in various ways with the magazine, and organising occasional arts/non-sporting related OM gatherings. These have included an informal event at The Cheshire Cheese in Fleet Street for OM journalists and writers, a wine-tasting and dinner for Herefordshire OMs and helping advise on the forthcoming OM Evensong in the College Chapel on Club Day, featuring some 80 or so OM singers in a performance of Tallis's "Spem in Alium". Also negotiating with Trinity College Cambridge regarding an event for joint OM/Trinity alumni, that will I hope take place sometime in 2007.

Personal Background

Freelance Classical Singer, based in London and Herefordshire. Have sung everywhere from Japan to Calcutta, via Glyndebourne and the Albert Hall, in repertoire from Monteverdi and Verdi to film scores for The Da Vinci Code and Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Comments

I was most honoured to be the first female President of the Club in 2004 and was a committee member for three years before that. Am always glad to bump into OMs, particularly in the musical world, and am happy to be contacted at susanna.spicer@mail.com, particularly by OMs who went on to Trinity, Cambridge, and who would be interested in a possible gathering there sometime next year.
