Athletics has a well established history at the College with individual trophies dating from the 19th Century. Today, it is run as a club for boys and girls of all ages. Training and practice is mainly organised in event groupings so that younger athletes will learn from the more experienced ones as well as from the coaches who include Olympic silver medalist, Todd Bennet.

Marlborough has one of the most beautifully situated all weather tracks in the country watched over by the white horse on Granham Hill. The track was re-laid in 2001.

Matches, Competition and Events

As well as having meetings for three or four schools most Saturdays, Marlborough also hosts the Kennet Area Trials and the County Pentathlon Championships.

Most years, about 20 athletes progress to the Individual County Championships at Salisbury and between five and ten to the South West Championships. Outstanding individuals will make it to the All England Championships at the end of term when there is also a fiercely contested House Competition.

Pre-season training trips have been held in the Algarve during the Easter holidays.
