Boys' Tennis

Master in charge: T A Birkill

Tennis is an alternative sport for the boys in the Summer Term. Individual coaching from high class LTA coaches is available throughout the year. There are pre-season training camps in Portugal or Spain and there is a Monday option during Lent Term to play tennis at the indoor centre in Swindon.

The College has 13 hard courts and 12 astroturf courts in addition to an indoor court in the Sports Hall. Three boarding houses also have their own courts.

Matches, Competition and Events

Ten teams play in major block fixtures. Boys can expect to play at least one fixture per week, and the senior teams will often have more than one. There are two teams at each of the junior levels and four Open teams. As well as regular school fixtures we compete in national competitions at U15 and U18 and we have senior and junior teams in the Public Schools' League. We also play an annual trophy event at all age groups against Radley, Harrow and Wellington which is fast becoming the highlight of our season.

The College Open 1st team has experienced much success in recent years, finishing as high as 3rd in the prestigious Public Schools' League and qualifying for the finals of the LTA National Schools' Cup.
